Construction on Glenwood Park commenced in 2005 and the last remaining lots are nearing completion ten years later. A national model of “new urbanism”, Glenwood Park was conceived by Charles Brewer, the founder of Mindspring computers. The original construction of single family residences, fee simple townhomes, live-work townhomes, condominiums, restaurant and retail space was all done to Earthcraft building standards with an emphasis on environmental protection and restoration. The site plan for Glenwood Park was once a massive concrete and lumber facility that was completely remediated prior to construction. Glenwood Park was designed as a walkable community, completely accessible to the neighboring East Atlanta, Ormewood Park and Grant Park neighborhoods. The two major centerpieces are an open park (Brewer Park) and town square (Brassfield Square). There is also a community pool (membership required), community garden and dog walk. The community has multiple restaurants (Gunshow, Vickerys, The Shed) a coffee shop, pediatric care, dentist, dry cleaners and health club. A new Kroger complex and the Atlanta Dairies project are both in close proximity and due for completion in 2017. Glenwood Park sits directly on the path of the Beltline project and should be in one of the next phases of Beltline construction.
