Oakhurst

In the southwest corner of Decatur lies Oakhurst. Only six miles east of Downtown Atlanta, Oakhurst is bounded by College Avenue in the North, Pharr Road in the South, Candler Drive in the East and Second Avenue in the West. With the intention of becoming a streetcar suburb in 1892. Oakhurst is a residential community known for its walkability and community engagement. The period homes in the area are primarily craftsman bungalows mixed in with “four square” and

postwar mid-century homes.

Only a short walk away, Oakhurst Village sits in the center of the city and is known for its many restaurants and shops. Getting around town can be accomplished with ease. Direct access to the East Lake MARTA station and Atlanta’s PATH trail system, makes Oakhurst an urban

Oakhurst hosts a wide variety of popular events annually such as: BBQ, Blues, and Bluegrass Festival, Jazz Nights at Scottish Rite, community block parties and Oakhurst Arts and Music Festival. Known to outsiders for their local and national landmarks such as the infamous Oakhurst Castle and the historic Scottish Rite Hospital, Oakhurst prides itself as the city that puts down roots together, a promise statement for those looking to lay a foundation of their own.
